For over 30 years New York Fine Wood Turning has been creating and replicating historical products such a stair balusters, newels, and columns. During this time New York Fine Wood Turning has researched and created many designs that are embedded in history. Although the old profiles were either heavily damaged or unnoticeable, New York Fine Wood Turning has managed to recreate the designs with a modern touch.
Our risers were created following motifs and designs from the late Georgian period. Some risers are exact replicas of the original staircase and some were created from ideas borrowed from that period.
The Georgian and Edwardian times showcased fascinating balusters. Most of the existing balusters had to be modified due to damage. However, we managed to find some authentic 18th century Edwardian pieces.
Our newel posts reflect the Victorian era. The engravings or carvings were taken from different parts of original Victorian houses. We carried through the carvings onto the staircases so each bears a resemblance to the Victorian style.
